What I did like were the puffy shell shaped stitches and my Mimmie tried to teach me but I had a hard time. Instead, she wound up showing me how to do the granny stitch in a straight line instead of a square. I got my shell shape but I wasn't stuck with squares.As an adult, I find that I like the stitch when I want to do stripes. Either bold and chunky or by alternating every row, this stitch can be versatile in spite of the fact that it is very simple. Crochet your chain in increments of three. Add one.
I'm most comfortable working a G but I bump it up to an H so that my stitches are naturally a bit looser than normal. I'd definitely recommend working with a hook or two bigger than your usual.If you look at the pattern in a pic above you can see that it looks like squares of four stitches alternating vertically and kind of horizontally. That makes each set have 8 stitches.So chain in multiples of 8 + one more chain. I went out with my mom to shoot some of our favorite accessories-of course I pulled out the suede Margiela 'Marfa' boots. Just for kicks I pulled out this rainbow skirt I got at a thrift store for two dollars. Serendipity. The colors matched up perfectly.
This men Cassette Playa has to be one of the coolest things ever. Wore it yesterday with a Yohji Yamamoto skirt that I've been meaning to borrow from my mom forever,cheap toms. We're still trying to get through our list of favorite stores and restaurants while discovering a few new ones along the way. We had some very cold weather for the shoot! Everyone does owl jewelry and sparrow motifs...but antelopes, squids, monkeys, and sea monsters are a little harder to come by. Our jewelry cabinet is a very exotic zoo.
I am absolutely terrible at packing light,discount toms, but this needs to change ASAP.During a week-long trip to Chicago and Milwaukee this summer, I realized that I always pack way too many shoes (flats,toms outlet store, heels, tennis shoes, flip flops, and at least one extra pair). One easy way to remedy my heavy suitcase is to buy lightweight shoes that do double duty. |
