Civil society organizations have been increasing rapidly. The total number of the Associations , Foundations , Syndicates and political parties reached to (3200)in 2001. The republic of Yemen has ebraced democracy that is based on pluralism ,longchamppascherroses, press freedom , economical liberty and human rights. Thereby, around (46) of the political parties appeared over the early years of the Unity and the civil society organizations have widely increased in all fields. Social Care: The civil society organizations have been actively sharing in supporting the poor segment of the society. They actually share with 17.40 % of the poor families income in Yemen according to the field studies. ore Yemeni society went on establishment the various forms of(NGOs ) in a bid to participate in the process of development and decision making. Environment (NGOs ). There are around (185) organizations which are concerned in the environmental issues. These organizations can be divided into three categories : 1- Organizations which are operating in the field of environment s protection . 2- Organizations are concerned in maintaining the environmental diversity . 3- Organizations are concerned in maintaining the environment . Human Rights ( NGOs ). There are about 36 organizations are operating in the field of human rights . These organizations are concentrating their activities on the following areas: 1- Monitoring the government authorities abide by the human rights principles . 2- Spot the violations of human rights. 3- Uplift the citizens awareness of their rights which are guaranteed by domestic and international laws. NGOs Political activity. The Republic of Yemen has adopted the policy of pluralism in 1990,chaneloutletroses, so the country witnessed a vogue of establishing the political parties ever since the time. There were around (46) of political parties constituted in Yemen ,however, 22 out of them took part in the first parliamentarian elections in 1993, and merely (8) parties were represented in the parliament at that time whereas in the newly parliament 2003, there are only (5) parties are being represented . The most prominent political parties which are operating actively at the present are: 1-The People General Congress( the ruling party). 2-The Yemeni Congregation for Reform( the main opposition party ). 3-The Yemeni Socialist party . 4-The Nasserate Union Party. 5-The Arab Ba ath Socialist party.
