Rally to bring back Health care insurance for kids
Let's Finish the Job of Covering Kids
Anchorage,
Nike Air Max 90, Alaska. Advocates for children's health care will rally on the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Concentrate on Thursday,
Nike Air Max, March 20 at noon. The goal of the rally is usually to spotlight legislation pending in the Alaska Legislature that would give more children usage of medical care from the state's Denali KidCare Program (DKC).
SB 212, sponsored by Senator Bettye Davis (DAnchorage),

Because the federal government pays almost 70% of the bill for DKC,

SB 212 passed the House Health and Social Services Committee on January 28th with support from the most of committee members. Into your market has elevated the Senate Finance Committee since January 30th without having a hearing. However, in 2004, the legislature changed the best way Alaska calculated maximum eligibility for DKC. As opposed to basing eligibility on the area of FPL, maximum eligibility was changed with a hardnumber income limit that froze eligibility at the 2003 level as well as over time, automatically cut kids of working families from the program. By 2007, maximum DKC eligibility fell to 153% FPL leaving nearly 3,

During the 2007 session, the legislature partially addressed the issue of entry to health care for lowincome children by returning maximum DKC eligibility to some number of FPL, this time 175% FPL. While an optimistic move, this action did not fully solve the issue. A huge number of children originally covered within the original maximum eligibility of 200% FPL were left out of the program. The work of covering Alaska's kids isn't over until DKC is restored to the original eligibility limit.Related articles:
